Thanksgiving Food Drive (TFD)
Description: Since 1969, the Council for the Spanish Speaking, Inc.,has recognized that on Thanksgiving day each family should enjoy a warm cultural meal. Since then the Council's staff, supporters and volunteers have committed their time to prepare and distribute 1800 boxes of food and 1200 food gift certificates to 1200 families.Date: November 18 - 19, 2011
El Dia de los Ninos (EDN)
Description: Latin America recognizes April 30 as El Dia del Nino, a day to recognize and honor children and their well-being with education and the community responsibility to families. Date: April 28, 2012
The Council for the Spanish Speaking, celebrates El Dia del Nino by offering resources, literacy, crafts, music and food at its annual celebration on the last Saturday of April.
"Educating & Graduating Latino High School Students"
Description: This National Conference will focus on changes and improvement on self-development strategies; community engagement; changes in social and school policies and practices; after school or weekend programs; tutoring; improvements in high school to college relations; the particular condition of Latino males; the role of schools, parents, community and advocates; and the persons that influence and affect practice and the performance of Latino High School students. - Post Eucation Conference Remarks
